Anchor Fluid
Opposing Hydraulic Cylinders
The purpose of this project was to demonstrate the power, precision, and resolution achievable through digitally controlled hydraulic systems. The system was designed to operate in three configurable modes.
Planar Independent Configuration
In this configuration, the cylinders move along a single axis and are controlled independently. Precision is demonstrated by placing an egg between the cylinders, highlighting fine positional control without damage.
Planar Jointed Configuration
In this configeration, the cylinders travel on a single axis and are controlled independently. However, the cylinders are locked mechanically./ One cylinder can be set as a vibrative force and the other as a reactionary dampening force. This config. demonstrates the power of the controller.

Pivoting Joint Configuration
In this configuration, the cylinders travel on a dual axis and are controlled binarily. This allows for a planar control of the end effector and can be used for work holding, probing, material dispensing, etc. This configeration displays the accuracy and rigidity of the system.
